Aircraft (also referred to as Airplanes, Aeroplanes, or just Planes) are owned and operated by Airlines and use your airport if a contract is signed with their associated airline. General Aviation aircraft will come if there is an available stand set to General Aviation at your airport. There are numerous different types of Aircraft in Airport CEO, ranging from small General Aviation aircraft to large Commercial Jets. This article will focus on which airlines fly which aircraft, the normal journey of aircraft through your airport, and other aircraft-specific attributes. For a more gameplay-oriented explanation, check the Flights (WIP) page. For info on managing airlines and stands, check their respective pages.

An Aircrafts "Lifetime"

An aircraft's lifetime refers to the entire time you see an aircraft at your airport. Understanding this can be helpful when designing your airport in a way that can handle a lot of flights. Below is a list outlining how most aircraft go through your airport. Points in bold mean that they are key places where an aircraft will taxi too.

The aircraft will...

  • Land at your airport on a runway that can accept arrivals and the planes weight class
  • Taxi along taxiways that can accept arrivals and the planes weight class
  • Arrive at either a General Aviation of Commercial stand, and wait there for a while
  • Receive turnaround services of whatever type applicable
  • Depart said stand after some time
  • Taxi along taxiways that can accept departures and the planes weight class
  • If required, use a De-icing pad
  • Finish taxing to the runway
  • Take off from your airport on a runway that can accept departures and the planes weight class
